Trieste, present day. Franco Tricarico (Lino Banfi) and Tino Pelagatti (Lino Toffolo), the first former Marshal (south) and the other music teacher (north), forcibly coexist under the same roof because of a legal dispute that sees them opponents in the fight for the ‘inheritance of the house. Franco is separated, Tino widower. Both have a son with who, in different ways, have a relationship unresolved. Franco, in fact, not much esteem his son Fausto, married and childless, holding a little ‘superficial and without ambition. While Tino homosexuality is ashamed of his son Renato, who lives with a young makeup artist in a provincial town where gossip is still the master. The sudden arrival of Maria, a girl of a few months, which is mysteriously abandoned their home with a note that says that either of them is the grandfather, disrupts the already precarious balance of the two families and brings to the surface all the problems unresolved between fathers and sons.
