This is the way one of the most famous love stories of the 20th century begins. The story of a man and a woman who are forced to renounce their love for reasons of state and power.
The film Soraya offers a chance to examine the history of the 20th century from a woman’s point of view. Soraya may not have been a woman who made history, but her love and her personal aspirations made her both witness to and part of it.
Set in the midst of events which moved whole worlds, the film Soraya aims to examine an important moment in the oil war, a moment which determined international politics and the lives of millions of people.
