A colonel from Trieste Blue Helmets is found dead on the beach of Vruia alongside a Croatian girl of fifteen (Mathilde). The bullet that killed him came from a Beretta 9mm (the weapon supplied to the UN contingent Italian) and the girl is immediately declared guilty. But a Croatian journalist, a former psychologist, reconstructs the tormented and eventful history of Mathilde and her son Miso, had the dangerous war criminal Paradic Serbia, in whose footsteps he was put right Colonel Trieste.
