‘Vermi’ is a story of growth and resilience, set in an isolated farmhouse in rural Friuli. Rosi is 12 years old and has the whole world on her shoulders: two younger sisters, a mother lost in her silence, and a father who exists only in memories and promises that quickly evaporate. Rosi breeds worms and sells them to fishermen to earn a little pocket money. With intelligence and determination, she also confronts the bullies at school, who try to impose themselves with the cruelty of those who imitate adults. Rosi does not allow herself to be intimidated: her every action, from small negotiations to moments of confrontation, is a way of asserting her strength in a world that too often denies her the right to still be a child. ‘Worms’ is the portrait of a childhood that, despite its difficulties, has found the time and the way to resist. It is a fairy tale that feeds on the resilience and determination of a little girl who does not give up, even when the world seems to leave her no way out.
