Adrien - art scholar and biographer of the artist Ernst Bollinger - finds himself involved in the story of which he is the author, co-protagonist of the final chapter of the artistic life of the great Master. Immersed in the rarefied atmosphere of a winter lagoon, the two men, accompanied by a young boatman, will share the experience of a secular pilgrimage in search of a missing woman, finding themselves exploring unexpected inner territories and recognizing themselves as children of a common memory.
