A black-and-white photograph from July 6, 1946, depicts a little girl holding a suitcase marked “Julian exile.” Her name is Egea Haffner, and her story begins when her father disappears, probably killed. These is the story of Egea’s life as an exile. Egea’s memory reflects the plight of all those forced to leave their homes.
