It is 1919 and Beatrice, a determined spy in the service of Russia, is in Fiume on the day when the poet and war hero Gabriele D’Annunzio launches his great revolution.
During the inauguration ceremony, she finds herself involved in an attack on the life of the poet-warrior. Discovering who the enemies of the revolution are is of primary importance: not only for Beatrice, who is there to protect D’Annunzio, but also for Pietro, the head of the Italian secret service, and Giulio, a World War I deserter.
